The accident:: Tinsukiya one of the important cities in the Dibrugarh district, situated in the eastern part of Assam State very near to Arunachalpradesh is famous for threeTs ( Tea ,Timber and Transport), No place is wasted. You see a large expance of fields for crops and teak treesFacing Krishnan's office closeby runs a well laid road ,and parallelly a railway track in the level of the road itself flanked by fields. There are oil refineries for producing gas and other petrolium products. On the day of the accident before leaving the office he refuses leave for the next day to one of his employees by name Saikiya , saying that he has some important work with him. K leaves the office and waits for the bus to go home. Saikiya is inside the office , murmering over refusal of leave. The security , very old in age watches K entering an oil tanker instead of bus to his surprise. The lorry had moved a bit but could not control its direction because of a cow suddenly making its way to cross the road.In the mean time ,another oil tanker lorry carrying pure petrolium was speeding fast from the opposite direction hit the first tanker before stabilizing ,so hard that K was thrown out of the lorry through the the gap of the driver's door.K fell on the very railway track adjacent to the road perpendicularly and immediately lost his senses! You may also be interested in knowing why at all Krishnan Saheb entering an oil tanker instead of usual bus service. The lorry driver insisted him to get in slowing the vehicle which initially K refused." Jabardhesth math keejiyae , Krishnan Saheb " So saying the driver gave a (un ) helping hand to K to ente r through his own door ! In the process of the fall his shirts got torn because of some hooks in the door and K got some bruises in the ribs But the major damage was to his right leg .The bones three inches above foot was broken with a compound fracture.!
The security who could not move by himself called Saikiya in a shouting tone " Saikiya , Krishnan Saheb ko accident huvaa hai ,madhadh karoa " What a great premonition in refusing leave toSaikiya on the ground that he has some important work with him.! Saikiya sees K on the track, rushes to him but also sees the train approaching the place with blow of wistle. Fortunately he had a red handkerchief which he waived running towards the train to some careful distance and was ultimately successful in stopping the train just at 30 feet away from K ! With the assistence of some people who got down from the train S lifted K to the road which is only at a parallel distance of 20 feet. The train left with its passengers. After a few minutes S sees a bigshot travelling by his car .S stops the car and asks for help in taking K to the hospital. The big B refuses but S does not leave. He forces B and B's wife to get down from the vehicle lifts K , keeps K on his laps conveniently and instructs the driver to rush to the hospital.
Dr Shermaon is a Rushian by birth who had set up a clinic in his Father's name at Tinsukiya where K was admitted. As told earlier, the South Indian community people did all the help until Sathi reached by flight to the hospital.Periyanna who was waiting at Calcutta for Mangalam , also left for Tinsukiya taking her and children.Sathi left back for work .Dr. Shermon tested K's blood and found that K's blood was pure unmedicated blood and therefore congeneal for operation.Another favaourable factor was the biting cold that prevailed. By nature K was courageous as a person Operation went off well by God's grace but for six contineous months he had to be in bed after which he was given practice for walking using crutches but within the hospital He was discharged in the ninth month but walking should be practised with crutches. Shubhashree had started her elementary education. There was a time difference of 3 hours from IST. Roughly the Sun rose in Tinsukiya at 3 am IST. Jayashree was in her childhood and the Assamese neighbours were of very great help in this need of the hour to Mangalam in taking care especially of Jayashree .There was an old lady Aaytha her daughter and grand daughters who did immense help and made Mangalam to be more peaceful so that she could take more care of K .
My job of of managing KTV became more and more difficult as days went by.Even though we were communicating regularly about K ,at a stage he stopped believing us! I only had the pleasure of hearing his Asirvatha manthras like " you are all liars, avvalavum thaanthoanikal " It was nothing unusuval for me , I never reacted to any of his words .I know that he had a lot of love for everybody. Now also his affection to Krishnan is translated into such words.I informed Periyanna about KTV's worries and suggested that both KTV and KP make a trip to perrsonally see Krishnan , which may make him more happy./It was arranged in an oppportune moment when K had started moving inside the house and started having normal food etc.
