33) THE LEGACY OF KTV
33) THE LEGACY OF KTV
Legacy ,by definition, is a gift of personal property ,at will a bequeth, handed down from the past from an ancestor or predecessor to the benefit and the enjoyment of future generations.A legacy may be that of any part of nature. May be an individual, a river, a certain part of a country or a full country itself which decides the fate, future, culture and traditions , influencing the society at large by one's own concommitent individuality behaviour culture course of action and moral force of reckoning.
We speak of phrases like " the legacy of Greece" ," the Legacy of Nile " " the Legacy of the river Ganges " and so on.
Coming to human beings, our own country has had a great many people who have been the guiding spirit of people .Such people have a great moral force a force that one has , by virtue ,not of physical strength nor does he offers any reward but by his possession of inner values which are intuitively acknowledged by others, of their own intinsic superiority. Such people during their life time do immense service to the society and their loss is considered irrepairable and the society remembers them for long time for their contribution to the general welfare. They live in their heart for ever. They were compared to a big banian tree with all its branches and aerial prop roots giving a good shade for those who want to take rest under and for the birds to live on.It is very apt that when such persons breathe their last , it is written as " the banian tree has fallen " On the death of KTV , we could receive a heap of letters of condolence from those who have come across with him, expressing their pouring of their hearts using the same parlance of the fallen banian tree. as a mark of respect .Those were days when letters and posts were the sole means of communication and Posts and Telegraphs Department was very busy and its service to the nation was commendable.
It was a Monday when the banian tree had a fall never to rise! As the news spread, people from far and near thronged to our house to have a last look. The Teaching and Non Teaching Staff of Sadakathullah Appa College emptied the college to be present in our house to pay their respect.
As suggested in the letters, we the sons and relatives performed his last rites with great faith to His utmost satisfaction . Our elder brother , Sri.T.Venkateswaran who died in the year 2013 December performed the annual ceremonies of KTV and KP as well, who died in the year 1989 with great devotion , ably assisted by our Manni. After TV's demise, my younger brother Krishnan continues.
It is no exaggeration that KTV has made us shine in our own fields to the appreciation of the place of their work and in the society. He is responsible for our Elder brother's success as Managerial position in GKW , my own role as a College Professor, Krishnan's roleAdministrative Head in IOC and a Director of a company by Sathya. Not only he made us successful in life but h e has been a guiding spirit to very many fanilies by giving them proper directions in heir problems. His courage of conviction , confidence ,sincerity and selflessness, ready nature to help in case of need had earned him a pride of place and is remembered by one and all even after his parting away long time back. When some body is refering to Kalakad , people identify the village where KTV lived in . HE is able to give an address to the village , just like Porbhandharr is remembered by Mahathma Gndhi. and Gandhi becomes an address to Porbhandhar.
Nowadays, I come across a number of people whose grand parents are contemporaries of KTV and have actually lived at Kalakad and have told about him. They ask me whether I know KTV.Ihave to tell them that I am one of his sons. They are happy and so am I..
The end .
